Erin Brooks is my hero

mbenjamingross

I guess it's been a minute since I made any surf content. That is because my wife just gave birth to the sweetest little baby girl. My son (2yrs) is not having a good time, so please send me your tips! And if that wasn't enough action, this past Saturday at my day job we set the attendance record at this particular venue with our MMA event: SSP60. (Ticket discounts for my fellow Angelinos) So things have been good and busy in the Kookington household.

I would imagine things have also been good in the Brooks household, as Erin Brooks made another final and is 2/2 so far on the Challenger Series. While she didn't win this one, she was by leaps and bounds the best female surfer in the event. Not liking Erin Brooks is probably similar to not liking ice cream. The girl has all the talent in the world, seems to be the sweetest person you could ever meet, and is absolutely willing to send it! Can't wait to see her next year in the CT.

I do really admire the surfers who consistently bounce between the Challengers and CT. It has to take so much grit and determination to keep at it year after year. But rippers like Erin, Jett Schilling, Dakoda Walters, and Vahine Fierro are the ones that really excite me because I think they have the potential to not only break through, but shake things up when they get there.

It's a shame we have to wait 2 months before the next Challenger series event. Tahiti will be incredible, and I have lots of great things coming to you! Below are my beginning of the season CS picks, and my updated confidence.
